Gentle Touch Reflexology and pregnancy.
During pregnancy a woman's body undergoes substantial physical and emotional changes. Reflexology can help to relieve many complaints of pregnancy and help your body to adjust to the major changes required at this time.

These include:
|
morning sickness |
stress and anxiety |
|
indigestion and heartburn |
swollen/puffy ankles and legs |
|
backache |
cramp |
|
groin pain |
pain and discomfort |
|
symphsis pubis dysfunction |
mood swings |
|
lack of sleep and fatigue |
|
Reflexology may help by reducing the effects of stress and modern day pressures on mother and baby, and with many mothers working up to their due date, the restorative effects of Gentle Touch™ Reflexology may be invaluable.
Research has shown that pregnant women receiving reflexology throughout their pregnancy tend to deliver closer to term, and experience shorter labours.

"I attended a consultation with Karen following a recommendation from a friend as I had experienced two pregnancy losses and 8 months later I hadn't fallen pregnant again because of the stress I was experiencing. I initially attended weekly sessions and within six weeks we had a positive pregnancy test. I continued with the treatment throughout my pregnancy and we now have a beautiful baby daughter. Karen helped me to remain positive and has been very supportive - reflexology has helped me both mentally and physically. I fully recommend Karen's treatment she is very professional and turned out to be a great support to me throughout this difficult time". Katy Peterborough

If a couple are having difficulty with conceiving, they should first consult their doctor to ascertain whether there is a physical cause. In the absence of a physical cause, reflexology may assist them. Anxiety and worries of not being able to conceive are often the very 'blockers' to becoming pregnant. Gentle Touch™ Reflexology encourages a deep relaxation and harmonises and balances the reproductive system. Both partners are encouraged to have treatments in order to, for example, regulate menstruation and stimulate sperm production.
"After having been trying for a baby for what felt like forever without any success, I had heard about Reflexlogy and that it may help us in trying to conceive. So I found Karen on the internet and thought I had nothing to lose by giving it a go. At my first appointment I was quite apprehensive as had never tried anything like this before, but Karen was so warm and welcoming that I immediately began to warm to her. The room where she does the reflexology has such a relaxing atmosphere, I could have drifted off before she even started.

At Sole Reflexions we consider it a professional courtesy for all pregnant women seeking reflexology to inform their primary care givers (normally midwives) and to ensure that they are happy for treatments to take place. Gentle Touch™ Reflexology is a complementary therapy that works alongside traditional medicine and as such there may be occasions when medical conditions arising during pregnancy may mean that reflexology is no longer a suitable therapy.
